NOVAFRICA 2015 Summer Research Internships

The NOVAFRICA Center is now taking applications for the 2015 summer research internships.

The internships will be held in the context of various research projects. In most of these projects we conduct randomized impact evaluations of interventions such as community-driven development of schools in Angola, management training of microentrepreneurs in the Maputo area, introduction of solar energy entrepreneurs in rural areas of Southern Mozambique or technical advice on farming modernization in Northern Mozambique. The internships are open to all Nova SBE students and will take place in Mozambique, starting in mid-June 2015. The internship duration will be of at least 2 months. The internships are not paid, although travel, accommodation, health expenses and basic subsistence will be covered by NOVAFRICA.

There is the possibility to extend the summer internship, whereby the intern will become a Project Coordinator and will receive a research scholarship paid according to his/her academic qualifications.

The responsibilities of the intern will be to accompany fieldwork and survey implementation, and perform a variety of tasks including survey programming, data checks and backups, staff training and team management in the field.

Selection criteria include, but are not limited to, knowledge about development economics and related fields, strong motivation and work discipline. Knowledge of stata or other statistical software is a plus. Fluency in Portuguese is a requirement.
