NOVAFRICA Vacancy: Internship in a Research Project on Education

Principal Investigators Joana Cardim (Nova SBE), Teresa Molina (Nova SBE) and Pedro Vicente (Nova SBE) seek qualified applicants for a Research internship in the project “ProFuturo: Evaluating the impact of the technology-based program Aula Digital in primary schools”. The project consists of a randomized impact evaluation of an intervention (for further information about this project, please see here). It will take place in Luanda, Angola.

The internship will start between the end of January and February 2019. The internship will last 2 months. The internship is not paid, although travel, accommodation, health expenses and basic subsistence will be covered by NOVAFRICA.

The intern will be responsible for accompanying fieldwork and survey implementation, and for performing a variety of tasks including survey programming, data checks and backups, staff training and team management in the field.

Selection criteria include strong motivation related to development in Africa, and an interest in research in economics. Some personal characteristics, like industriousness and capacity to build productive inter-personal relationships, are also important. Working knowledge of Portuguese is needed, but fluency (although welcome) is not a requirement. Knowledge of Stata or other statistical software is a plus.

If you are interested, please contact NOVAFRICA until December 21, 2018 by sending an email including a letter of motivation with contacts that explains why you would like to join the NOVAFRICA Research Internship program, letters of recommendation with contacts (if available), and your curriculum vitae with the subject “Research internship in Luanda”.
