NOVAFRICA, in collaboration with Evidence in Governance and Politics (EGAP), Nova SBE and the University of Toronto, is pleased to host the EGAP 32 Lisbon Meeting, taking place at Nova SBE’s Carcavelos Campus from 21 to 23 October 2026.

The meeting is co-organised by Pedro Vicente, Professor at Nova SBE and Founding Scientific Director of NOVAFRICA.

 

21 October | Policy Event: The Case of Quelimane, Mozambique

The meeting will open with a policy event entitled “A Full Experimental Agenda for Policy-making by a City Government in Mozambique: The Case of Quelimane.”

The event will showcase research projects conducted in Quelimane, Mozambique, exploring how experimental research can inform local governance and urban policy. Topics include urban migration, flood management, property taxation and waste recycling, with contributions from researchers and representatives of the Quelimane municipal government.

22–23 October | EGAP 32 Research Meeting

Over the following two days, the EGAP 32 Lisbon Meeting will bring together an international community of researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas, discuss ongoing research and explore innovative approaches to some of the most pressing challenges in governance and politics.

Through research presentations, interactive feedback sessions and plenary discussions, the meeting will foster dialogue between academic research and policy practice, with a particular focus on experimental methods and evidence-based approaches to governance.
