Submission Guidelines - deadline on March 15, 2026
NOVAFRICA is organizing the 2026 NOVAFRICA PhD Workshop on Development Economics that will take place at Nova School of Business and Economics on June 17, 2026. The 4th edition of this event is organized by the NOVAFRICA doctoral students and attended by the NOVAFRICA faculty members.
We invite submissions from doctoral students on the broad theme of development economics.
The Workshop is a great opportunity to share ongoing work at an advanced stage and receive critical feedback.
Submissions of full papers are expected by March 15, 2026. Extended abstracts (up to 3 pages and containing first results) may also be submitted. Applicants who have already submitted a paper to the 2026 NOVAFRICA Conference must submit a separate application to be considered for the PhD Workshop.
Decisions will be communicated by April 5, 2026. There is no participation fee for the Workshop, however, participants must cover their own costs of travel and accommodation.
The Workshop is followed by the 2026 NOVAFRICA Conference on Economic Development.
This year’s conference keynote speakers are Abhijit Banerjee (MIT), Isaac Mbiti (University of Notre Dame), and Sandra Sequeira (LSE). For more details, please visit the conference webpage.
