The Uses of Development Economics: A talk with Abhijit Banerjee

On November 7, 2017, NOVAFRICA welcomes Professor Abhijit Banerjee from MIT for a talk under the theme “The Uses of Development Economics”.

This event, co-organized by NOVAFRICA, NEC, E4P and NovaSU, will be an informal conversation for those interested in development economics.

Abhijit Banerjee is currently the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was educated at the University of Calcutta, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Harvard University.

He founded the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Econometric Society. He is the author of three books, including Poor Economics, which won the Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year.

Recently, Banerjee served on the U.N. Secretary-General’s High-level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda.
