In today’s NOVAFRICA PhD candidate spotlight, we are excited to hear from Frederica Mendonça, a PhD student in Economics at Nova School of Business and Economics, as she shares her inspiring journey from macroeconomics to a passion for development economics, sparked by her involvement in the NOVAFRICA Student Group.

Her fieldwork has taken her across Angola, Guinea-Bissau, and Mozambique, where she has worked on innovative research projects that enhance education, health, and urban policy. Currently, she’s focused on rural migration and public policy in Mozambique, exploring how local resources can be leveraged to address pressing health issues.
