NOVAFRICA is accepting applications for Research Internships (Mozambique)

We are looking for research interns to be integrated into the following ongoing NOVAFRICA field research project:

Urbanization meets the environment: Can Community-level Technical Assistance Induce Local Adaptation and Protect Against Flooding?

This project consists of an RCT to measure the impact of a community mobilization intervention to prevent damages from floods in Quelimane, Mozambique. You would take part in the final measurement and data collection.

Start date: June 2025.
Duration: 3 to 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.
Location: Mozambique.
Selection criteria: includes strong motivation related to education and economic development, as well as an interest in research in economics. Some personal characteristics, like autonomy, thoroughness and capacity to build productive interpersonal relationships, are also important. Working knowledge of Portuguese is needed, but fluency (although welcome) is not a requirement.
Your profile:
• Master students in Economics or International Development & Public Policy will be preferred.
• Bachelor’s in economics, Management, Finance or related fields.
• Ability to work independently.
• Interest in research.
• Working knowledge of Portuguese is required.

Compensation: The internships are unpaid, although NOVAFRICA will cover travel, accommodation, health expenses, and subsistence.
