NOVAFRICA Vacancy for Project Coordinator for Research Project on Entrepreneurship (Mozambique)
Professors Catia Batista (Nova SBE) and Priscila de Oliveira (Nova SBE) seek qualified applicants for a position of Project Coordinator (PC) for an ongoing NOVAFRICA field research project:
This project consists of an RCT to measure the role of information constraints and biased beliefs about business performance and job prospects on the occupational choices of micro-entrepreneurs in urban areas in Mozambique.
The Project Coordinator position offers an opportunity to gain first-hand field management and research experience and allows the opportunity to work closely with the researchers and other field staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Managing relations with local partners;
- Conducting research in behavioral and development economics;
- Designing survey questionnaires;
- Managing large quantitative data collection, including multiple survey teams;
- Data management, cleaning and analysis;
- Undertaking preliminary data analysis and writing of project reports and policy memos;
- Financial/budget tracking and management.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, or related fields.
- Excellent management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Stata and strong quantitative skills.
- Working knowledge of Portuguese.
- Familiarity with randomized controlled trials.
- Flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations.
- Experience living and conducting field research in both developed and developing countries is a strong plus.
Start and Duration Date:
February 2025, with an expected duration of 6 to 12 months, subject to renewal.
Salary and Benefits:
The salary will be determined according to qualifications.
