NOVAFRICA Vacancies for Research Internships (Mozambique)

NOVAFRICA is accepting applications for Research Internships (Mozambique).

We are looking for research interns to be integrated into the following ongoing NOVAFRICA field research project:

Experimental evidence on occupational choices of microentrepreneurs in Mozambique (Maputo, Mozambique).

This project consists of an RCT to measure the role of information constraints and biased beliefs about business performance and job prospects on the occupational choices of micro-entrepreneurs in urban areas in Mozambique.

Start date: June 2024
Duration: 3 to 6 months, with the possibility of an extension
Location: Mozambique

Selection criteria: includes strong motivation related to entrepreneurship, employment and economic development, as well as an interest in research in economics. Some personal characteristics, like autonomy, thoroughness and capacity to build productive interpersonal relationships, are also important. Working knowledge of Portuguese is needed, but fluency (although welcome) is not a requirement.

Profile:
• Master students in Economics or International Development & Public Policy will be preferred.
• Bachelor’s in Economics, Management, Finance or related fields.
• Ability to work independently.
• Some knowledge of and interest in development economics.
• Working knowledge (not fluency) of Portuguese is required.

Compensation: NOVAFRICA will cover travel, accommodation, health expenses, and subsistence.
